Is it just a mobile number? Be cautious when the means of contact is a mobile number as you are not dealing with an established company. A 1-man band holds no guarantee over longevity if you need them in the future.

Check the company has been operational for at least 2 years. Increasingly pop-up snaggers try to copy what we have spent years perfecting. They often over-promise and aren't experienced.

Are they qualified? Whilst you do not need to be a chartered surveyor to be a snagger, it is crucial to understand and highlight issues that fall out of building regs/tolerances. Trust a snagging company with a profile page & credentials.

Are they insured? When a snagging company under-charges, it may be because they aren't paying for important overheads such as public liability insurance.

Look at an example report which they should showcase openly on the website. Avoid those that don't or if you have to register your details to get a report sent to you, as they do this to spam for your business.

Are the reviews verified? Most companies today have a 3rd party platform such as Reviews.co.uk or Trustpilot where customers are prompted to score the service after the survey. Check how long reviews have been collected.

Read the Terms & Conditions before paying a penny to a company. Their terms should be openly available on their website and you should also be allowed to cancel within 24 hours.

Do you pay before a date is confirmed? Most snagging companies have followed our lead with charging just a small deposit when booking, but they often ask for this before confirming a suitable date. Get confirmation before booking.

A re-inspection is not required! It is rare for us to re-inspect a property because our report is easy for a customer / site to follow and tick-off. Don't be sold into a re-inspection service / for them to chase the builder for you.
